English Heritage launch Heritage at Risk, including Liverpool areas
Liverpool Landscapes was a blog charting new discoveries, news and developments affecting Liverpool's historic environment. It was regularly updated between 2007 and 2016.
Liverpool Landscape has now been retired, and most of the less time-dependent articles moved to Historic Liverpool.
The main thrust of EH’s report seems to be the problems of PVC windows and doors, unsightly satellite dishes and the loss of other original features of the suburbs. Though, of course, this is only the side deemed most relevant to the public, and there are many more pressing threats to the historic environment, such as dereliction, the declining economy, and uncontrolled development.
As you can see, the Daily Mail addresses the incredibly important issue of wheelie bins while others cherish their ‘tarnished jewels’. Closer to home the Wirral Globe mentions Hamilton Square. The ‘chairman’ of the Liverpool Preservation ‘Trust’ has another rant.
What are your views on the risks to your own historic environment?

You mention Liverpool Preservation Trust and their Chairman Wayne Calhoun. I suspect the LPT is not a constituted organisation nor represented anyone other than the publicity seeking ranting Chairman who as a local businessman probably has self promotion as the main objective of his one man band.
I wonder if anyone can find a copy of LPT constitution or members?
You have a great web site BTW and not a rant in sight, just clear informative and objective reporting. Keep it up, it makes a refreshing change from rantablog.
I did look to see if the designation ‘Trust’ required some kind of legal paperwork to be filled in, but couldn’t! Never mind. I used to read the blog itself, but had to stop in the face of all the randomly bolded and enlarged text. I try to keep my language readable too.
Thanks for your kind comments, Peter. It’s good to know the work doesn’t go unnoticed!
